These events are a great way to meet the teachers and learn more about the Kindergarten program at your child's school. Find out more by visiting your school's webpage or Facebook page. TIPS FOR STARTING KINDERGARTEN FROM THE ɫֱ KINDERGARTEN TEAMS
YOU ARE YOUR CHILD’S FIRST AND BEST TEACHER!
We are very excited to welcome your child to our schools in September. Our team of educators provide an excellent kindergarten program that will motivate your child to be their best! Along with our valued community partners, we will help prepare your child for school.
Each Spring, Near North families receive an invitation for a “Journey into Learning” family orientation session where you and your child will participate in playful experiences with educators and early learning community partners as you become familiar with your school community and the Kindergarten Program. These hands-on experiences are supported with our Journey into Learning Guide and Kit, which provides caregivers with information, resources, and ideas on how you can enjoy learning together outside of the classroom. Contact your local school to find out more about upcoming Journey into Learning sessions.

Journey Into Learning, or JIL for short, is how the ɫֱ welcomes our newest learners and their families. Journey into Learning (JIL) is intended to build a bridge between home and school. Through our JIL school sessions, this Guide, and its accompanying Kit, our aim is to share information about the Ontario Kindergarten Program, the types of learning that will take place at school and what families can do at home to support their child’s learning journey. All Kindergarten students entering school for the first time will receive the Guide and Kit in September 2024.
