1.0 Background
The ¾ÅÉ«Ö±²¥ supports the initiatives of the two secondary sports organizations which serve its students. These are the Nipissing District Association (N.D.A.) and the Muskoka-Parry Sound Athletic Association (M.P.S.A.A.). At the same time, it is recognized that these organizations exist at arm’s length from the ¾ÅÉ«Ö±²¥. They function under their own constitutions and they involve staff and students from several Boards.
2.0 Decision Making
The secondary athletic associations function under their own constitutions, and they plan athletic competitions and make decisions based on their own constitutions and guidelines.
3.0 Legal Liability
The ¾ÅÉ«Ö±²¥ accepts no liability for the operation of secondary athletic associations.
3.1 Athletic coaches from the ¾ÅÉ«Ö±²¥ are covered under the Board’s liability insurance because they are working within the scope of their duties with the Board.
3.2 Convenors of athletic events or competitions are covered under Board liability for decisions which are purely organizational in nature (such as preparing a schedule or arranging for referees). The Secondary Athletic Associations are asked to restructure their convenor roles to be purely organizational in nature.
3.3 The Executives of the Athletic Associations are encouraged to take out liability insurance and to become incorporated.
